SHAUN WRIGHT-PHILLIPS must stop feeling sorry for himself and copy Joe Cole's example of how to work his way back into Jose Mourinho's affections.

When Mourinho sanctioned a £21million bid for the England winger in the summer, Wright-Phillips must have expected to play a massive part in Chelsea's trophy assault.

Instead he has made just eight starts this term and did not even make the bench for Wednesday's game at former club City. Mourinho said: "I had to choose between Shaun and Arjen Robben and I decided Robben was the right one."

Cole responded to two months out in the cold last season in style - and Mourinho will be hoping Wright-Phillips will rise to the challenge ahead of the World Cup in Germany.
