Pearce welcomes
Wright-Phillips return
December 28, 2005
CITY boss Stuart Pearce has
admitted ahead of tonight's clash with Chelsea that he would welcome Shaun
Wright-Phillips back at the Blues with open arms.
The England winger has failed to nail down a regular starting berth at
Stamford Bridge since making a £21m move to Stamford Bridge during the close
season, sparking speculation that he could be allowed to leave the club on
loan.
And the Blues manager says he’d be more than happy to have Shaun back.
"If somewhere down the line, Chelsea or Shaun felt the move had not worked
out for him, then nothing has changed," Pearce told the club’s official
website.
"It would be nice to have him back here. He's a fantastic lad, a real pro.
You know what you're going to get, day-in day-out. We'd certainly love him
to walk back through the door.
"I'm sure our fans will welcome him back with open arms and I hope he's in
the England squad next summer because you couldn't meet a more hardworking,
down-to-earth lad."
